Check Out The HeyBryan App!

I’ve been a big fan of Bryan Baeumler for a while now. I grew up watching his shows on HGTV and I’d be lying if I said he didn’t have an influence on my own career. Recently I heard that he started his own home-service app and I had to check it out. The HeyBryan app allows homeowners to get in contact with local ‘Home-Service Experts’ to get jobs done around the house. You can hire an expert to do anything from painting, to furniture installation, to lawn maintenance, or just general handyman tasks that you may not have the time or the skills necessary to do yourself.

I tend to have a one-track mind, I get really focused on whatever new projects I’m currently working on. Unfortunately, that means that little jobs tend to pile up around the house. It’s tough to find the time to deal with small jobs. HeyBryan is a great way to get someone to come and take care of those small jobs for you, without having to make the financial commitment of bringing on a full-time assistant. I recently got to test out the app and had a HeyBryan expert come to my house and repair a broken outlet that I had been neglecting for far too long.

The first thing I did was fire up the app and book a task. I set a time that worked for me and wrote a really brief description of what my issue was. I was then greeted with a list of available experts in my area. I settled on Dean, a master electrician, who I figured with all his years of experience should be able to handle a simple outlet repair. The whole process took less than 5 minutes.

After the task was created and Dean accepted the job, I chatted with him very briefly in the app and gave him a few more details. He assured me that he’d be able to help me, no problem. We decided that the time that worked best for both of us was early on Sunday morning. Did you catch that last part? He was willing to come out on a Sunday morning! Good luck getting your average, out of the phonebook, electrician to do a job on a Sunday morning.

The clock struck 10am and there was Dean, all smiles and ready to work, outside of my front door (which also happened to be where the broken electrical outlet was). He had all the tools and parts necessary to do the job already with him and got right to work.

I’ve worked alongside enough electricians to know that Dean knew exactly what he was doing. He swapped the old outlet with a new one and had the whole thing buttoned up in less than 15 minutes. We tested the brand new outlet to make sure it was working (it was), shook hands and just like that he was gone. To be honest I kind of miss Dean, maybe I’ll try to find some more things around the house that he can fix.

In total, using the HeyBryan app to get my electrical outlet fixed, took me less than 20 minutes. And that’s including the 15 minutes it took me to take all the photos necessary for this blog post! It was a super streamlined process and incredibly easy to use. Bottom line: This was a great experience as a customer.

But wait, it gets even better. Not only is it great for getting jobs done, but you can also sign up as a HeyBryan expert yourself. It can be a great way for you to use your own expertise and skill to earn some side cash. It’s a fantastic way to advertise yourselves and reach new potential customers. Registration is really simple to complete and, unlike some similar apps, they don’t charge you a fee to sign-up. You set your own rates, your own hours, and you are your own boss.

I know how hard it can be to get started in this industry, especially if you haven’t been through some sort of apprenticeship program, HeyBryan is a great way around that. By being certified on the platform you are essentially getting Bryan Baeumler’s seal of approval, which is a great reference to potential customers. If you have skills that you want to monetize, then make sure to download the app.

Did I mention the best part? HeyBryan is doing a HUGE giveaway on their Instagram page right now. You can win a complete cordless DeWalt toolkit. As you might have seen in some of my photos these are a lot of the tools I use myself in the shop. Check out their Instagram page for more details here: https://www.instagram.com/heybryan/

HeyBryan currently operates in the Greater Toronto and Vancouver areas, and you can find out more on their website.
